Interview: Sport Mediaset · 30 Oct 2021
In this interview Simon Kjær speaks about the courage to have dreams and about Christian Eriksen.
At the center of the Rossoneri defense, you see Simon Kjær as a calm and solid reference point of the group and you see a parable at the top that made the Dane in less than two years to be a strong point, an indispensable model for the young group that needs certainties. The second place last season and the push for higher ambitions this year target the Scudetto.
Kjær: “We believe in that for 100%. I have no doubts about that. If you don't have the strength or the courage to have dreams, look forward, you will never win. We are stronger, we are more mature than last year and we have a hunger that is not easy to find.”
- Simon Kjær, Danish defender at AC Milan
In the list of 30 for the Ballon d’Or, Kjær is one of the strongest defenders in Europe. As captain he led Denmark to the European semi-finals, but the memory of his tournament remains indelible on 12 June, the rapid sequence in which he saved the life of Eriksen with the intervention on the pitch of which he modestly takes no credit.
Kjær: “I didn't save a life, I helped out like all my teammates. It made me grow as a person. It makes me feel good and knowing that he is fine.”
In Milan, Kjær has found a balance of enthusiasm, a dimension that satisfies him, the renewal until 2024 is worth a declaration of love for life.
Kjær: “It was a dream for me to extend here. It is the team, the club that I have wanted to be for almost my entire career. It is about growing and I have always had the mentality that I can improve, learn every day. The day I don't believe that, I have to stop playing.”
