Interview Simon Kjær after Croatia - Denmark

Interview: TV 2 SPORT · 22 Sep 2022

Danish interview with Simon Kjær after the Nations League match between Croatia and Denmark on 22 September 2022. Croatia won with 2-1. What are his thoughts on the match?

Interview Simon Kjær

Simon Kjær what do you think you missed tonight against Croatia?

Simon Kjær: "It's small details in the fight. We both want... we both want the ball. They treat the ball a little better than we do in certain situations and we throw away some stupid balls that we shouldn't throw away. In some transitions where we can be dangerous. And then they get two nasty goals. The first one is not a corner kick, but those are the things that happen in football. And number two... they play in a triangle and show some of what they can do on the ball.

We are missing something on that last third and to get into the last third today with the last passes so... It's not so good. So there are some things we need to look at in order to become better. Croatia played really, really well in their facets. We don't get full advantage when we are on the ball."

How was it to be back in the red/white jersey? Tonight the black one of course.

Simon Kjær: "It's great to be back. I love being here. I love being part of this team and playing for the national team. So, it's fantastic. And I was hoping to get back on three points and we would win this. It seems like all the steps we have taken along the way... I hoped we could take a step again today. And there will be more difficult work ahead. There is something to tackle."

You just have to beat France.

Simon Kjær: "Pardon?"

You just have to beat France.

Simon Kjær: We will."

Thank you for that, Simon Kjær. Thank you.

"It's great to be back. I love being here. I love being part of this team and playing for the national team."
