Italian interview Simon Kjær EURO 2020

Simon Kjær: "We are meeting a very strong team tomorrow, who has grown a lot lately, so tomorrow's match will be very difficult. We have to attack the match as we can do, and we have the confidence we can win."

In those last hours, have you thought you may have the chance to re-write the fairytale Danmark wrote back in 1992, unexpectedly winning the championship and surprising the whole Europe, or you're still too far from that?

Simon Kjær: "No, we're still way too far, I mean... before we've talked about this tournament, about the fact that we're taking everything day by day, match after match, knowing that we have a very good team, that it's tough to beat us. And in a championship like this, that's an enormous quality. Then I think, we're meeting for the first time in this EURO 2020, a team who plays a bit more like us: physically, so the intensity during the match is going to be very high."

"We also saw that in the latest matches, in the last 15 minutes, the others were a bit better than us, but there's a great spirit in the team and a great will to run. But we know tomorrow's match we'll be a very complicated one."

"We know we have a very good team, that it's tough to beat us. And in a championship like this, that's an enormous quality."

One last thing: you're always in contact with Eriksen, you talk with him almost every day: which is the message he has sent to you, and which is the message you are sending to him?

Simon Kjær: "That he's okay and that we are playing for him."

Many thanks to Emanu for sharing this and for the English translation.
