Interview with Simon Kjær after the friendly match between Denmark and Norway on 8 June 2024. About his role in the Danish national team and the upcoming EURO 2024.
Simon Kjær: "You go with many considerations about what to do next. I always want to play. And if you ask me to play 90, I will play 90.
But there will be other situations where I may have to give more of myself in a different way. I’m always available for the team and there are many
thoughts about it, but fortunately positive ones."
This role that has also been talked about, that you play such a big role off the field, what exactly do you do to contribute as much as you can now
that you can't be on the field?
Simon Kjær: "Well, I played a bit of football for a while now….
So preparation - little things that you think about during the race - just be there for the guys - it's insanely important when you go into a final
round that you’ve a positive mind. Looking forward to every day, it can do a lot.
You saw what it could do at the EC last time - even though what happened
happened. But it was the positive mind and look ahead. Enjoy being together and appreciate it. It's the small details every day that can make a really,
really big difference. Especially when you are away for a long time.
It's those small details and then the football aspect that is secondary."
