Simon Kjær is Denmark's Football Player of the Year 2021 (Årets Mandlige Fodboldspiller). The award show was broadcast in Denmark on January 21, 2022. Read the English translation below.
The male football player of the year 2021 is Simon Kjær.
All of Denmark's captain Kjær shows world-class leadership skills during this summer's final round and he has his game on the field at the same level.
Pierre Højbjerg: "To be a topteam, you need a player who just makes sure to set the tone for the team,
and for themselves and for the environment. There Simon is the front runner."
32-year-old Kjær plays perhaps the best season of his career for both the club and the national team.
Joakim Mæhle: "He has just evolved to be a defender at the very highest level in the world. Whether it is played with or without the ball, it doesn’t matter."
That is why he is also nominated for Ballon d'Or and now for the male football player of the year in Denmark.
Simon Kjær: "It's a huge clap on the shoulder. I want to thank you all who have voted for me.
It is once again a great honor to be elected.
Unfortunately, I have only tried it once before in my career, but just as you can not take the 119 international matches from me,
you can not take these two from me. It will be something that is always will be incredibly close to me and something that I am incredibly proud of."
