Christian Eriksen collapsed on June 12, 2021, during the EURO 2020 match between
Denmark and Finland. Simon Kjær stayed calm, rushed to Eriksen's side, formed a barrier around him and comforted his wife.
But make no mistake about it, it wasn't only Kjær, but the whole Danish team that showed courage, strength and support.
Although Simon Kjær has been praised and called a hero, he keeps underlining that he didn't save Eriksen's life,
but that the whole team played a very important role. Kjær said in this interview for AC Milan:
“I didn't save a life, I helped out like all my teammates."
On August 24, 2021, Simon Kjær and the Danish medical team were honoured with the UEFA President's Award 2021

"As a captain I feel obligated to take this award with my team, and only with my team."
In The Great Couch Interview with Simon Kjær, the Danish captain explained that he
had a difficult time accepting any praise with respect to Eriksen. "Why should this praise go to me when it was the team?
I couldn’t have done any of the things I did without my team."
In this interview with Simon Kjær, de Danish defender shows much respect for Eriksen: "We’ve
been lucky in that we have one of the world’s best goalkeepers and one of the world’s best
10’ers (Christian Eriksen) but they have never put themselves above the team."
