The 2021 Ballon d'Or was won by Lionel Messi, which was not much of a surprise. The Ballon d'Or Féminin was won by Alexia Putellas.
During the Ballon d'Or 2021 ceremony, Simon Kjær was praised for his support to Christian Eriksen during EURO 2020. Which is of course beautiful. However, several things were said that are not in line with Simon Kjær's earlier statements. For example, Simon keeps underlining that he wasn't the one who saved Christian Eriksen's live - the team did. Furthermore, he's is called a hero - which he feels uncomfortable about for the same reason.
This is more than football.

In this interview Simon Kjær said:
"I didn't save a life, I helped out like all my teammates." So, yes, the honour is great, but we have to stick to what Simon Kjær said himself.
Overall, it was a wonderful evening! Simon Kjær in 18th place for the Ballon d'Or 2021. Which is absolutely amazing.
